Our Story
ClayLine Pottery Studio has three founding members who have all been active in the local Arts community.
Their vision is to provide a friendly, community pottery studio, that welcomes people to be creative, productive and supportive.
Allan, Susan and Fern are excited to welcome old friends, and new, to become members.
Susan is an arts educator who has taught for over 30 years. Originally from California, Susan has worked globally, exploring creative practices from Bhutan, Chile, sub-Saharan Africa, Japan and other parts of Asia. She continues to explore her passion for well designed and functional pottery.
Fern originally from Ontario, is a life-long artist and educator, recently retired from UBCO, where she taught Photography, and Digital Imaging. Fern has returned to her roots in ceramics and is interested in hand-building, surface design, and combining photography with ceramics. She has over 30 years of teaching experience and continues to exhibit her artwork across Canada and internationally.
Allan is a Geophysicist who also has worked internationally. He focuses on developing wheel techniques that allow him to make large vessels, many with marbleized clay. He also is the studio’s glaze master and continues to develop new glazes for our members.
