Short Course - Introduction to Glaze Making Limit: 4 per session Cost: $275 member, $325 non member Dates: June 28+29 9:00am -5:00pm both days (bring your lunch) Requirements: P95 half face respirator or better Provided : Safety glasses, gloves This course is intended to be an introduction to the materials and theory of glaze design in ceramics. Day 1 morning- introduction to glazes, basic properties of materials important factors and considerations ex. Stull diagrams Day 1 afternoon – lab time, introduction to equipment basic glaze making ex.linear and triaxial glaze testing Day 2 morning – considerations in glaze design LOI, thermal expansion, gloss substitution of materials Unified Glaze theory, introduction to INSIGHT ex. redesigning a glaze Day 2 afternoon- use of INSIGHT for computer design of glaze computer and lab time, ex. effects of substitutions and redesign of glaze Follow up : Review of test tiles in person at a later date TBA
